New Milestone for Google Web Toolkit Available

The second milestone release of Google Web Toolkit (GWT) 1.5 has been published. GWT is an open-source Java-to-JavaScript compiler and enables Java developers to convert their swing interfaces in Ajax-based Web interfaces. The basic feature of version 1.5 is support for Java 5, including Generics, Enums and Annotations.

Among the new features in this milestone include a new DOM API package, animation effects in some widgets, the addition of a Showcase sample to represent the GWT default stylesheet widget and animations.

It also includes GWT 1.5 M2 keyboard support in UI classes, including menus and tab panels, ARIA support for improved access in the most widgets as well as a Mac OS X distribution, which runs in Leopard (10.5) and Tiger (10.4).
